Willi Bauer

Willi Bauer was born July 7, 1923 in the tranquil Spessart region of Germany. This rural, picturesque
countryside left a lasting impression on the artist, as did village life. He studied under Prof. Roth in
Berlin and Prof. Della Villa at the Staedel Institute of Art in Frankfurt, Germany. His fresh, vibrant
impressionistic style covers a wide range of subject matter, inspired by all that is around him and
reflective of his roots in the Spessart. His work, richly impressionistic, belies the very controlled
brushstrokes applied to achieve the desired effect of light. He is recognized as one of Europe’s leading
contemporary impressionist artists and his works can be found in collections throughout Europe and
North America.
